joyoountu - our philosophy
The philosophy that inspires our work and relationships is based on the ancient African concept of “ubuntu” which holds that “I am what I am because of who we all are”.
In the words of Desmond Tutu: “A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, based from a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished...” (1999: No Future Without Forgiveness).
We coined the term joyoountu as a combination of joy, cooperation and ubuntu. Our guiding principles are joyful interconnectedness, respect, helpfulness, sharing, community, caring trust, and unselfishness with a positive attitude.
Our name „joyn-coop“ reflects our philosophy – we strive to work in cooperation with all stakeholders, join together different capabilities, and do so with joy.
